    RDTC > Welcoming Town Resolution

The Randolph Town Council has been blocking a Resolution which declares that the Town of Randolph welcomes all residents, and people of all nationalities and races.

If you think that blocking that is crazy, and you believe that Randolph is a Welcoming Town, like the big sign above, come say so, on Monday, March 10, at 6 PM at Town Hall!

Councilor Jesse Gordon will force a vote on Monday to require a public hearing on the Welcoming Resolution. For several weeks now, the Town Council has been blocking the people of Randolph from learning about our police policies regarding immigrants -- those police policies are fair for all and make for a safe Town for all. Our Welcoming Resolution says exactly that.

Councilor Gordon says, "Our police follow state and federal law, no more and no less, and in Randolph it's safe for immigrants to talk to our police." The Town Police Chief echoed that long-standing policy, in a recording that has been blocked from RCTV. "Our police don't do MORE than the law requires -- they're not ICE Deputies and they never will be -- and our police don't do LESS than the law requires -- we're not a Sanctuary City," adds Councilor Gordon.

This shouldn't be controversial -- but it is! Please come and speak your mind, so all of Randolph can hear the simple truth. You can read the Welcoming Resolution below -- the Randolph Town Council cancelled a meeting to avoid having this version introduced -- or contact Jesse Gordon at (617) 320-6989 or jgordon@randolph-ma.gov

The Randolph DEI was an active participant in drafting the Resolution below, along with the RDTC and several other organizations.

WHEREAS, the Town of Randolph does not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment or bullying by Town employees or officials; and

WHEREAS, we strive to make Randolph a safe and welcoming community that stands on principles of rejecting racial profiling, racially motivated brutality, hate crimes and other crimes that impact minority and underrepresented communities; and

WHEREAS, our law enforcement agencies are committed to responding to the needs of our community and to respecting, protecting and serving all residents, documented and undocumented, to ensure safety for all people; and

WHEREAS, immigrants and refugees are a vital part of the civic, economic and social life of our community; and
